Dear Friends,
The countdown is under way for States and Districts. Remember to contact Ruth McAllister with your States questions and myself with District questions. A printable copy of the District tournament letter is available on the website. Note, though, that the proper NFL entry forms must be used in order to enter the District tournament. PLEASE meet the set deadline for both tournaments!
Congratulations to Paul Matzko of Bob Jones Academy who recently received the NFL All American Academic Award. NFL All Americans are students with over 750 NFL points on record, at least a 3.7 GPA, and a score of at least 1400 on the SAT or 27 on the ACT. The printable application for this award is now linked to the SC website (All American). All SC All Americans are recognized on the SC website - go to Student Achievements. If you have students who have received this award and are not posted on the website, let me know immediately.
Congratulation to Tim Silvester of Bob Jones Academy for reaching Quad Ruby status (over 1000 NFL points) in the NFL. This award is also posted on the website. Have I missed anyone?
Printable Charter applications and Affiliate applications are also linked to the SC website.
Welcome to Grace Christian School and Coach Bill Gorski - our newest SC affiliate school. Grace Christian is located in Columbia and is not a new face in the policy debate circle. We look forward to having Bill and his team compete at Districts this year!
More information on Ted Turner Debate is available on the SC Website (New Guidelines and Helpful Ideas for TTD). This information is from the NFL and gives guidelines for speakers, research, coin tosses, etc. I think each Ted Turner Debater would benefit from a copy of this information.
The Hillcrest High School Tournament Invitation is on the SC website in printable format (acrobat reader). Bill Evans has asked that each school print its copy from the website. He will not be mailing out the invitations.

On a personal note, I have spent much time at the hospital due to health problems of my father. Friday, January 31, he had open heart surgery - valve replacement and triple bypass. The recovery has been difficult because of his age - 83 years old! I would appreciate that you keep him and my mother in your prayers over the next few weeks. I have not been in school in a week. Needless to say, I am behind in my work!
Sincerely,
Gail
